In the year to come, more than 20 million people are expected to watch a movie on an Adlabs screen. Having reached the milestone of being the first cinema chain to cross 100 screens and now 150 screens in India, Adlabs is by far the largest cinema chain in the country.
After pioneering the IMAX experience in India and creating flagship properties like Metro Adlabs and the largest dome theatre in the world, the cinema chain is committed to providing audiences across India - particularly tier II cities - access to Adlabs' world-class cinemas at extremely competitive rates. This is being achieved through a strategy of not only setting up standalone properties and cinemas in malls, but also taking over current properties, renovating and operating them, taking advantage of their considerable existing infrastructure and brand value.
In keeping with this aggressive expansion strategy, Adlabs had acquired all the properties of Rave Cinemas in 2007, helping the chain to ramp up operations in northern India. Moreover, it helped create iconic destinations such as Adlabs in Agra, a few kilometres away from the Taj Mahal, which is pioneering the multi-sensory cinema experience in India through a six-dimensional show, as well as Adlabs in Noida, the only cinema to have a presence in India’s largest mall, The Great India Place. In the south, Adlabs has taken over one of Tamil Nadu’s most prestigious properties, KG Cinemas in Coimbatore and there are cinemas in several major cities in the pipeline. It is also pioneering the concept of megaplexes in the country.
Adlabs Cinemas’ is also building up a sizable international presence, having recently acquired majority interest in Malaysia-based Lotus Five Star Cinemas, and will be operating a 51 screen cinema chain in Malaysia. The international network, in addition to Malaysia, also includes 220 screens covering the East, Mid West and West Coast of USA as also Mauritius and Nepal.
Growth at Adlabs Cinemas is not just restricted to expansion. Keeping in mind that the factor that makes or breaks a cinema is customer service, the chain has introduced several initiatives targeting audiences that have been sidelined till now. Such as Baby Bliss which introduced special shows for couples with young children and Silver Screen, a special endeavour to take care of senior citizens.
Technology for consumer benefit is the other cornerstone of this strategy. This is embodied in the launch of various products likes Mobile Box Office, a GPRS-based application that allows consumers to book tickets on their mobile phones and EasyTicket, the nation's first virtual pre-paid card in this category. It is this customer orientation that has won Adlabs Cinemas several awards in the retail space.
There's never a dull moment at an Adlabs cinema. Now, coming to your neighbourhood.
